Using iPads to Enhance Teaching and Learning
Class Objectives met through this review:

technologies can effectively promote student le arning
2. Evaluate and use a variety of current
technologies to enhance content instruction and to advance students’

In the Audio Recording, Using iPads to Enhance Teaching and Learning by Joe Dale, he discusses the question
of Using iPads in education and comes to the conclusion that Using iPads does
indeed have a place in today’s classroom.
iPads are great for personal use, but they can do so much more than
that! Send your iPad to school with our favorite ways to use iPads in the
classroom. I think if teachers use iPads correctly in the classroom they can
develop children's creativity. It is imperative that teachers know what skills
the iPad can be developed; otherwise its use in the classroom could be wasted.
Technology now needs to be central to children's learning in the classroom with
creative well-planned teaching.
The trend of iPads in the classroom is not going away. It's a great tool
and an even better learning resource. I
believe that the most successful of the students we are educating today will be
those that can find information the fastest and know best what to do with that
information. Also, Study Finds Benefits
in Use of iPad as an Educational Tool.

Using iPads
in the classroom effectively to be part of a research team to determine if the
use of iPads in classrooms at school would enhance instruction and learning
enough to warrant their purchase. There are tons of apps for practice and
drill, plus there is also a lot out there that can be just as effective with
net books or even pencil and paper. In this website you will know use ipad
Effective Use in the Classroom.
Use the
ipad in classroom is Ease and speed of use and accessibility: The touch
interface and app system on the iPad makes it easy to access learning tools. On
a laptop you have to open the lid, turn it on, wait for it to load, log in to
your account and then wait for the operating system. Also, they help
disorganized students by consolidating calendars, memos and notes all in one
device and iPad can help student communicate, has a built in voice dictation.
I learned direct instruction is remarkably effective as a teaching
strategy if it is done properly. One great advantage of direct instruction is
that it conducive to development of strong interpersonal relationships between
the teacher and the students. The downside of this, which the constructivist
approach is quick to point out, is that it tends to create students who are
cognitively dependent on the teacher. This makes more sense in the younger
grades, but one would hope that as students move through into high school and
post-secondary, if that is where they end up that students will have more
exposure to teaching styles that encourage cognitive independence
In my opinion number of students who use iPods or similar devices as a
way to block out distractions, especially the chatter of those who are not so
concerned about working, while they are working.
I have to agree, an iPod in the classroom can help the student. They are
distracted, but if you have a one ear open rule then the student still hears
the teacher well enough, and they are paying more attention than they probably
would normally. Also, the iPod can be used in the classroom for work, very
easily. But some boards in some districts are too caught up in boring ways to
teach, and therefore half the students are not doing their work and failing.

Hi Mayssah,
ReplyDeleteThis was a great post that touched on a lot of great reasons why iPad are a vital tool in classrooms. If teachers can embrace this new found way of learning then the students will be able to thrive. In my opinion iPad offer a 21st century approach to learning that only enhances the way we taught in the past. Children who before were resistant and tougher to engage are able to get involved with learning in a way they weren't able to before. I believe that iPad should be found in every classroom!
Hi Mayssah,
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if every classroom had access to iPads. I really liked the portion of your blog post where you addressed the "disorganized" student. MANY students miss due dates and instructions because they lost paper work that was handed out by the teacher.Students also say that they didn't hear or forgot what the teacher said. An iPad helps both students and teachers stay on track.
I think an iPad would benefit a student even more if they were allowed to take it home.Students could check calendars and lessons. They could also collaborate with other students and the teacher while they are working at home.
Your post got me thinking about organization. I hadn't thought about that aspect with regards to technology. Thanks.
